EDIT: 1. Error found. The error happens when the music stop. There is actually nothing wrong in the code, but some computers seems to have a problem reading it. Check if you have the latest flash player.
2. The game have been made a bit easier, but no huge modification yet. Don't panic. I will redo the game and make more story to it.
City Protector is back, but this time it really rock! Levels, extra ammo plane, different layout, music and points!
Took me all Easter to finnish this.
My 4th flash game, and now it begin to get interesting I have followed the book of Gary Rosenweig's. I have done some bigger modifications to the game, his had had only 1 level, 5 types of planes, 20 shots, 1 point for each plane.
Everything you see is made by me. The code I have written(not copy-paste, you learn nothing from that). What you hear is free sound files from the net. The music is from the iMovie(Mac) library.
Please report bugs or other stuff. There may be a update in the future.
Man, I must say I'm really impressed. You got great potential in this. It was when I got to the pixelated level that I realized you've made an effort in making variation for this game. That was pretty fun, and came as a surprise to me at least.
Only negative critic I have is that it's way too hard. Objects should fly slower, and possibly only one way. Enemies should be UFO's only, and you should get penalties for hitting aircraft. Extra ammo, or eventual powerups should be dropped from the shot down enemies so you'd have to pick them up when falling in order to get them. And when the UFO's leave the screen, unharmed, there should also be a penalty. The way it is now, it doesn't seem like you're defending anything.
Hmm... interresting idea! I will indeed think about it. But it will be a version 3. Actually it's not that hard to fix. I just give minus score for hitting the other planes.

In my opinion there should be some kind of system in it. For instance, you'd see the beginning of a city at the right side of the screen. UFO's keep flying in from the left, and planes from the right. That way, you could not stay too far to either the left or right, as if you were all the way to the right, you'd have a lot time to thime the shot at the UFO's, but there would be a huge risk to hit the airplanes. If you were all the way to the left, you'd miss all the UFO's unless you frantically fired randomly, wasting ammo. There could be an aiding airplane dropping ammo supplies at you every now and then to make it a wee bit easier. Also, shooting the airplanes could have a negative effect to the gameplay as well. The planes are fighting the UFO's, so shooting an airplane could send an extra wave of UFO's your way a while later.
Okay, I'm just giving you ideas here. I'm not expecting you to put them into the game. If I were you, I'd just admire my work for now. You did an excellent job.
It had been fun to add some planes you should not hit, like the big ones. Give the bad once the same color or something and give the good ones color. The only problem is time. I will have to wait with updating the game. I have some 3D studio I should have done this easter, instead I were programming.
Thanks for your review, it helps make greater games I have also uploaded this on New Grounds and got some reviews there to. Got a score around 2.8 of 5 (it's changing all the time)

Great improvements, I really like the graphics on level 3.
One of the things I noticed was the level number text didn't update until after I shot once on each level.
